The Caravan at the Ford

Spring of Year 1

Traders out of the Verge want passage through your northern woods. Your ranger says the road they'd cut will scar the treeline, and that scars of that kind do not close.

Leave a mark

The ground remembers differentlyThere is room here for nineteen things done on purpose. What you put down changes which roads, strangers and old stories can find you. It will weather. It will not be removed.

Choose an empty cell. Nothing already standing is overwritten.

What the nine Marks change
Stone
Visitors can read what you cut into it, long after you stop explaining.
Road
Travellers and caravans find you more often. In time, the road keeps going.
Gate
Arrivals meet your terms first, and learn what they may ask.
Shrine
Vows, offerings and the people who make them begin to find this place.
Grave
The remembered return in stories, and pilgrims learn the way here.
Tree / Grove
It grows into shelter slowly, bringing grove stories as it ages.
Well
What lies below gets a way to reach you. Some of it is only water.
Watchpost
Warnings arrive earlier when someone is already looking outward.
Ruinwork
The broken thing stays underneath. What you build carries it forward.
